Understanding how NickerTV works and knowing how to navigate your way around will make your online experience much better and eliminate problems before they begin.

(. . . And yes, you CAN watch on your television! You will always receive your programs through the computer, but instead of your monitor, your television screen can display the program. Click here for simple instructions!)

Equipment Required
Nicker is accessible by any computer through a DSL, cable modem, satellite or other high-speed Internet connection. You do not need any special equipment. Do not try to use a dial-up connection as it will not work.

How to Start
1. Go to the Channel Selector page (“Go to Channels” button on Home Page.

2. Preview the Channel Tabs on the left side of your screen. Clicking on any tab will bring up a description of that Channel and a link to Watch Channel.

3. Each individual channel page displays the available list of programs with viewing options (Watch Free, Download to Rent or Buy or Buy DVD). You can search programs by Title, Keyword, or any number of various attributes. The program list grows each week.

4. a. Click on Watch Free. This will take you to the beginning of the program that you want to watch. Every 5 to 10 minutes, a short, 15 to 30 second ad will play. This part of Nicker is completely ad supported and we ask that all viewers support the sponsors who support us.

b. Click on Download to Buy. This feature will be activated in the Spring of 2008, and will allow you to buy an electronic copy which can reside on your computer's hard drive or be burned onto a DVD. You will not be able to watch this DVD on a conventional DVD Player – only on your computer's CD/DVD drive. (The same process used to watch NickerNetwork on your television can also be used to watch this DVD on your computer, too, however.)

c. Buy DVD. If the program is currently available as a DVD, this link will take you to a retail shopping cart which will allow you to buy the program on a DVD. Shipping is always free within the continental US. If it is not available as a DVD, this link will take you to a page that explains your options.

Watching
Programs will start automatically after a short advertisement. The advertiser will also have a banner which will be displayed at the bottom of the screen which can be clicked on to visit their website. If you “enlarge” the screen, this bottom banner will be hidden, but can be recalled by “minimizing” your screen.

Important! Did you know that the resolution settings of your computer can work to set the size of your viewing screen? The lower the resolution the larger the screen – but it doesn't affect the quality of the video. The resolution can easily be changed back and forth through the settings of your computer's Display controls. What might be optimum for watching video programs may not be adequate for working in Word or Excel, for example. (If you change resolution back and forth, be prepared that your desktop icons might reposition themselves after each change!)

If your resolution is relatively high (i.e., 1200 pixels X 800 pixels) when you first begin watching the program, you'll be able to expand the screen side to about two-thirds of your monitor screen. You do this by clicking on the “maximize” icon on the right side of the menu just below the screen. To return to the original size, move your curser to the bottom of the large screen, and the menu will pop up. Simply click on the “minimize” icon and the screen will return to the original size.

Sharing
If you like the program that you are watching, you can immediately tell a friend about it. Just pause the program, fill in the “send to” email information, and hit “send.” You can then resume the program without missing a second. (This actually is a great way to help us spread the word about NickerNetwork!)
